Here's to all who ain't beta-testing this site and are yet to learn the twitterizing oncoming changes here on DA: Beta Test: New Profile URLsDeviantArt is constantly evaluating better ways to serve our community, from new features to the subject of this update: subdomains!
In order to better serve you, we’re changing the subdomains from username.deviantart.com to deviantart.com/username. But don’t worry, username.deviantart.com will not break—your old links/URLs will redirect to your new URLs.
We know a lot of deviants are attached to their URLs, so the decision to make this change was not done lightly. Part of the decision-making process involved surveying active deviants, and we discovered the overall sentiment was fairly neutral. Most people did not strongly prefer one or the other -- as long as old URLs redirected. But, most importantly, we believe this change will be beneficial for you.

Some comments really nail my concern - how we all got used to sort of a personalized gallery experience (YOU.dA.com) - and now we're robbed of it :(
And the juiciest part is that we're robbed of it for the sake of better site performance and SEO! Liek, for realz? Incredible 'explanation' :shakefish:
One of the explanation to the decreasing volume of my uploading here (e.g. compared to my TG channel) is the EXTREME LAG in loading DA pages. Waiting for 2 minutes for submission page to load? Nope, DA, this isn't optimization.
So, how do you feel about being moved to twittstagram in terms of your new username address? :hmm:

I'm not a beta tester but I really don't like this. They don't need to be changing our profile URLs to increase more traffic to our pages, I care not for google searches finding me easier, look at tumblr, they've got the (username).tumblr.com thing like deviantart and they don't have any issues. Also DA could be spending a lot more time fixing some things to optimize the website better than changing a URL, it's an asinine issue that doesn't need fixing. Lastly, as many many others have said the (username).deviantart.com feels a lot more personalized and ours rather than being something that deviantart owns, we're not some basic social media site full of random drivel we're an art website and we don't need to act like every other social media website.
